Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning

A masters-level programme, available exclusively to SSAT members and those training on an SSAT programme. Worth 60 credits – equivalent to the first third of an MA in Teaching and Learning – the course is split into three units:

  • the theory of reflection
  • the examination of critical incidents
  • the application of these methods to your professional work.

How is the programme assessed?
Each course unit requires you to produce one written assignment – these will be reflective and critical commentaries linked to the theme of each unit.

How is the content provided?
The PG Cert T&L (SSAT) programme is delivered in a virtual learning environment. Face-to-face drop-in sessions with your tutor are also available.

How long will I study?
Part-time for one year.

When will the programme start?
The programme started in October 2013. Students will be invited to an induction day in Manchester during the autumn term, where they will meet their designated tutor.

How much does the PG Cert T&L (SSAT) cost?
For 2013/14 – £1,400 – a special discounted rate for SSAT members.

How can the PG Cert T&L help me progress on to the full masters qualification?
The certificate is worth 60 credits towards continued study to gain a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (SSAT).
