A seminar for school leaders

Changes to the Ofsted framework this term have been the most significant yet. Not only has the main focus shifted to the quality of education and, in particular, the curriculum, but the whole inspection process is now completely different to what schools have experienced before.

School leaders have expressed some nervousness about what to expect under the new framework. The aim of this half-day SSAT seminar is both to inform and reassure colleagues so that they are fully prepared for when the telephone call comes.

SSAT has always emphasised that schools shouldn’t be specifically preparing for an inspection but that they will be ready for an inspection if they are consistently doing the right things on a daily basis. As well as clarifying the actual process of an inspection, this seminar will help school leaders to review their current practice to make sure that they are inspection-ready.

Content

  • The new Ofsted framework – what’s new and what hasn’t changed?
  • The quality of education judgement – how will inspectors gather evidence?
  • What sort of questions will we all be asked?
  • How will the other judgements be inspected?
  • Hear the experiences of a school leader who has recently been inspected under the new framework (to be confirmed)

Projected outcomes

  • Participants will be fully informed about the content of the new Ofsted framework and about what an inspection involves
  • They will have the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues to help ensure that they are inspection-ready
