Please note: this event is now fully booked.
The day will be hosted by our Trust (BSAT) CEO (Jayne Jardine, who is also a Lead Ofsted Inspector) with sessions across two sites (Manor School and The Avenue School – less than 10mins walk from each other)
The day will focus on the following:
Embedding Therapy Provision (Challenge Partners Accredited area)
- Functional Communication & Life Skills: getting the essentials right from the start.
- Verbal Behaviour (VB): specialist teaching methodology, set up as an extension to the personalised learning we provide to all of our pupils. VB classrooms are for learners who benefit from extra support with communication and behaviour for learning. They provide specialist teaching based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis/Verbal Behaviour.
- Brent Assessment Route I Can System: a developmental, small step assessment we developed in house (and have sold to 40 schools across the country) and the impact that has had on teaching & learning, raising standards, and celebrating pupil progress with them and their parents.
Brent Specialist Academy Trust:
Our Trust mission: ‘love, learn, laugh’, underpins our key aim to improve our pupils’ lives and outcomes through outstanding educational practice and provision, while also setting challenging and aspirational goals designed to empower our pupils and enhance their life choices. The education and well-being we provide depends on forging excellent partnerships between home and school. We look forward to sharing and supporting all of our families in the development of your child and their learning journey.
Manor School provides a specialist teaching environment for 176 primary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs including: global developmental delay, Autism, and severe/complex learning difficulties. Providing a very specialist environment with small classes of 6 to 9 pupils, Manor School employs specially trained staff, including on-site speech and occupational therapists, behaviour specialists, and a family support team.
The Avenue School:
The Avenue School is being developed by the Trust; led by Jayne Jardine (CEO), Kate Campbell (Head of School) and senior leaders of Manor School. The new school is much needed in Brent to meet the growing demand for special school places and to further improve provision for pupils with Autism and complex needs. The Avenue will open on a temporary site in September 2019, before opening on its permanent site in September 2021.
