We know that senior leaders have enough on their plate at the moment and that the visits from HMI this term might be seen as an unwelcome distraction. At the same time, we’re sure you will all want to present your schools in the best possible light.

Ofsted interim visits started at the beginning of this month and we have arranged an online twilight briefing for senior leaders of SSAT member schools on the background and nature of the visits with the first-hand experience of a headteacher from an SSAT member school.

Colin Logan, SSAT Senior Education Lead, Richard Spencer, executive principal at Ely College in Cambridgeshire and Peter Law, principal of Comberton Village College be part of the panel sharing experiences and offering some tips for colleagues who might be hosting a visit later this term.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions both during and after the presentations.

Ofsted inspections proper are scheduled to restart in January. The government intends to have the exemption from inspection for outstanding schools lifted at the same time. If you are expecting an inspection later this year, you might also be interested in our online conference “The Ofsted framework – one year on” which will have a keynote session from Dan Owen, senior HMI, and also case studies from schools that have been inspected recently and from a school where they have undertaken a complete review of their curriculum in order to go, in their own words, “beyond outstanding”.

Further details are available at The Ofsted Framework – one year on
