The West Sussex Deputy Network

West Sussex Deputy Headteachers Network (WSDN) is a group of deputy headteachers or aspiring deputy headteachers who work in secondary schools across West Sussex. They collaborate formally in order to continually develop the quality of education of the young people in their care.

SSAT works closely with the WSDN to help shape the thinking and content of the network’s activities, and to support the project management and logistical arrangements for the group.

West Sussex schools become members of the WSDN by payment of an annual subscription. The fee, and what it covers, is set out below.

WSDN annual conference – Friday 17th November 2017

2017 marks the 7th WSDN annual conference. This will again be held at the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel, Arundel

The theme of this years’ conference is ‘Creating a culture of positive leadership’. Three very different speakers will provide interesting reflections on the concept of positive and motivational leadership.

We are excited to announce that Jan Shadick, Regional Director (South), will speak on the topic of leadership in education. Jan will be joined by Professor Gillian Hampden-Thompson, Professor of Education at Sussex University.

The day will close with a keynote from Maggie Alphonsi MBE. Maggie is the face of international women’s rugby and arguably one of the most well-known names in women’s team sports. Maggie offers insight from the perspective of competitive sport, to be related to education.

They will be accompanied by Tom Middlehurst, Director of Policy and Public Affairs at SSAT, who will update you on the latest developments in the educational landscape and what this means for our schools and students.

To sign up please complete the booking form through the link below. You will be sent an invoice for your network fee, followed by further logistical information ahead of the conference on Friday 17th November.
