Become a Lead Practitioner Learning Centre (LPLC)

Individual Lead Practitioner accreditation recognises and celebrates exceptional practice in education. It provides a powerful professional development pathway for aspirant Lead Practitioners and has a wider impact on colleagues, teams and learners across schools and multi‑academy trusts.

Becoming an LPLC allows schools to extend this impact further by developing talent, strengthening collaboration and shaping high‑quality professional learning locally.

As an LPLC, your school becomes a recognised hub of excellence, developing Lead Practitioners, supporting other schools, and contributing to system‑wide improvement.

What is an LPLC?

An LPLC is a licensed centre that recruits and supports local cohorts of aspirant Lead Practitioners. Drawing on a deep understanding of local context, LPLCs help practitioners drive impact that improves outcomes and enriches learning for all pupils.

LPLCs work with SSAT to support schools through the accreditation process, build strong professional communities, and extend Lead Practitioner principles across their networks.

Why become an LPLC?

  • Lead local collaboration – work with schools in your area and support local improvement priorities
  • Be a centre of excellence – showcase outstanding practice and contribute to the wider profession
  • Develop your own staff – provide leadership and coaching opportunities for existing Lead Practitioners
  • Generate income – charge for training delivered on behalf of SSAT, with marketing and materials provided

SSAT manages all accreditation applications, assessment and quality assurance, invoicing LPLCs a discounted fee for supported applicants.

Who can apply?

Successful LPLCs will demonstrate:

  • Strong, recent evidence of good to outstanding outcomes and school improvement
  • Affiliated SSAT membership
  • A skilled team with experience delivering high‑quality professional development
  • The capacity and facilities to support cohorts of aspirant Lead Practitioners, including virtual delivery
