Congratulations to Lorna Bradford – Secondary School Teacher of the Year!

Lorna Bradford wins Secondary School Teacher of the Year 2015 at Pearson Teaching Awards

Held annually, The Pearson Teaching Awards competition is open to every school in the UK and recognises exceptional contributions to teaching and learning. Chosen from thousands of nominations from across the UK, award-winners are each presented with a Gold Plato Award in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

SSAT’s involvement in the awards stems from a strong belief that teachers are heroes and make lives. As such, SSAT were delighted to sponsor the Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School 2015 and would like to congratulate Lorna Bradford of The Farnley Academy, Leeds for her award in this category.

Lorna is a truly worthy winner – she has transformed the geography department at The Farnley Academy and is greatly admired by pupils and teachers alike for the energy and vibrancy she has brought to the Geography curriculum.

In a recent observation, Lorna wore a sweatband throughout the whole lesson and jogged from desk to desk in a lesson entitled ‘Geography Revision Boot Camp’ – we’re tired just thinking about it!

Congratulations once again to Lorna from all at SSAT – we wish her the best of luck for the future and look forward to hearing of her next energetic innovation.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast on BBC2 at 6.00pm on Sunday 25th October as ‘Britain’s Classroom Heroes’ – make sure you tune in.
