Is your secondary school ready for Ofsted?

We understand the importance of readiness for Ofsted inspections and are here to provide you with the guidance you need. In this webinar, we will explore the key factors that can help you assess your school’s practices and offer insights so that you are ready when the call comes.

We will be hearing from senior leaders from two recently inspected schools which were judged to be good and outstanding.

At this webinar you will hear:

  • The latest information about inspection.
  • The myths and realities of inspection.
  • What schools themselves are saying and how this might prove useful in your own context.

The webinar will give you the opportunity to hear from our speakers and to ask questions such as:

  • Can my school be good or outstanding with a 2-year KS3?
  • How much weight does the Ebacc carry in the judgement for Quality of Education?
  • If inspectors won’t look at our data, how can we show evidence of pupil progress?
  • What information should we have on the quality of teaching?
  • What are the expectations on governors?

Benefits

By participating in this event, you will have a clear understanding of any steps that you might want to take in order to ensure that you are ready for inspection. Even if you are not expecting an inspection, you will be briefed on the inspection landscape and how you can support improvement in partner schools.

Suitable for

Headteachers and senior leaders of secondary schools.

Speakers

Colin Logan, senior education lead at SSAT and a recent Ofsted inspector, will share the latest information about inspection, including attendance, reading and deep dives.

Laura O’Leary, headteacher of Blessed Robert Sutton, a mixed comprehensive academy in Burton-on-Trent, which had an RI judgement in 2016 but was judged outstanding earlier this year. Inspectors described the “phenomenal change” her leadership has brought since her appointment and praised the school’s broad and ambitious curriculum, its focus on literacy, its PSHE and careers programmes, the quality of teachers’ planning and how their workload is managed and the academy’s governance which is “a real strength of the school”.

Kate Brice, headteacher of Hasmonean School for Girls, a comprehensive academy in London, which was inspected for the first time in September. Inspectors praised the school’s high expectations, its family atmosphere and its broad curriculum which is ambitious for all. Attendance is improving and persistent absence is rigorously followed up. Both personal development and the sixth form were judged to be outstanding with “an exceptional offer beyond the academic”, effective support and guidance and an aspirational careers programme.
