Right now there is a significant subsidy for secondary state schools in an Education Investment Area (EIA) from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), through the DfE’s Accelerator Fund. We would like you to be one of the schools that we support with our proven EFA programme. But you need to act now as there are limited places remaining.

Why introduce the Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA) programme to your school?

EFA isn’t a trial, it’s a proven whole-school programme that is achieving real results in a school just like yours in your local area right now.

• EFA is proven to improve student achievement for schools as evidenced by the EEF’s report.
• Learners made the equivalent of up to two months’ additional progress in their Attainment 8 GCSE score.
• Learners in the lowest third for prior attainment made more progress than their classmates in the top third.
• Teachers felt the Teacher Learning Communities (TLCs) improved their practice by allowing valuable dialogue between teachers and encouraged experimentation with formative assessment strategies.
• There is a focus on teacher habit change through the five strategies of formative assessment.
• Your school will have an expert EFA mentor who will be with you every step of the way.
• This is a 2-year whole-school improvement programme comprising nine workshops each year lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes.
• You can make a bigger difference to your students every lesson, while still being able to keep on top of your workload.

• Come along to an in-person event in Manchester or Bristol and meet Professor Dylan Wiliam, the originator of the EFA programme.

• You’re assigned one of our EFA mentors

Support every step of the way

Our EFA Mentor expertise will ensure that the programme is effective in improving student outcomes, fostering a positive change in school culture, teacher practice and student engagement and responsiveness.

This support includes:

• Pre-training conversation with EFA mentor to ensure programme practicalities are in place.
• One-day in-school training for school leadership and Teacher Learning Community (TLC) leaders which includes implementation planning.
• An EFA mentor for support as needed over the two years.
• Key point conversations with school lead via telephone and email to support implementation.
• End of year one plus two face-to-face full day visits.
• Access to a library of resources via your mentor from schools that have been successful with the programme.
