Academisation – SSAT comment

SSAT is pleased that the Department for Education has decided to pursue a different pathway, rather than force all good and outstanding schools in all LAs to become academies. We have always advocated the importance of school leaders making their own decisions based on the needs of their students, we are therefore delighted that Nicky Morgan, in her own words, is ‘a listening secretary of state’, and has responded to the concerns of teachers and parents. Academisation may still be right for some schools, and this is now a decision that schools can reach, with students at the heart of their decision.
