On 2 December, SSAT enjoyed an evening in conversation with Stephen Tierney to discuss the launch of his third book “Leadership:  Being, Knowing, Doing.”

Stephen is perhaps better known as @LeadingLearner and was chair of the Headteachers’ Roundtable Group from 2014 until 2021. He is former headteacher at St. Mary’s Catholic Academy and CEO of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust in Blackpool. He is a passionate advocate for education and the profession. For many years SSAT and Stephen have worked together on personalising learning and leadership development.

SSAT’s Sue Williamson (CEO) and Dan Belcher asked Stephen about his leadership journey and the key themes of the book, which explores three ‘ways’ (being, knowing, doing) and eight ‘basics’ of leadership. As always, he brought his values-based approach, humour and insight to current issues including social justice, nurturing enriching relationships and accountability. We will be sharing excerpts of the conversation and the first part can be found here.
